A twisted tale is unraveling as we find our prognosticate in quite a desired spot. The shifters of time and momentum have worked their magic and created an optimum placement for their greatest trick of all; their unveiling of their Futuristic Gaming Machine! We jump to the current state and time to see what they have up their sleeve next:
Today, the great shifters of time and momentum, Microsoft and as we like to call it the NeXt-box swung quite a haymaker at the competition as they sent out announcements, as shown on CVG, to the media, developers, and analysts alike about their upcoming event on the 21st of May. The show will more than likely be much of the same, in comparison to Sony and their event in which they showed off the PlayStation 4. Proof was in the conference, that showing off the system is important, but presenting the games and what the system is capable of is the vital piece of the puzzle. The more interesting thing heading into the show is how Microsoft does indeed use the event and what they show off, as the event will wind up being less than three weeks before they take the stage yet again at E3.
While there has been a fair-share negative press and rumors that have been swirling about the next generation system from Microsoft, many even upset about a lack of any announcement in response to Sony’s, the timing of the upcoming event is brilliant, simply brilliant. We might not be happy with what they unveil, but if fans are excited about what is coming forth from the NeXt-box the momentum that is gained at an event such as this will carry over to the biggest video game expos in the world. There is nothing like sweeping the rug right out from under the other contestants as there will undoubtedly be a influx of press about the newest console.
Sony got their time in the spotlight , but it may have been a little early. Media is all about the present and while it is possible that Sony has their own plans for that time frame, there isn’t much like a new console, as they found out last month, so they will be pretty much guaranteed nothing better than a second row seat. There is something to say about media being about what is taking place at that very moment as that is what fans and gamers require and demand. Fans are what matter, not that we don’t matter too *tears*, as they are the ones that are spending their funds at the end of the day on a new console; so to captivate their attention is key. Luckily, gamers are a “what have you done for me lately” group so it will more than likely be what they are talking about too heading into the big day a measly 19 days later.
Microsoft is going to have to debunk some rumors as the 21st could be for nothing heading into E3 should they not. Either that or show off all the stuff that people care about and let the bad press trickle in after E3. The key is winning the moment which is vital for a console and company that saw some slips in momentum toward the end of the current generation because of their lack of exclusive titles to pull gamers away from the PlayStation 3. The key for Microsoft will be to ensure that they seize the moment that is in front of them. They have already proven to have at least one trick up their sleeves in showing off their ability to work the calendar and time into an advantage, but the question is do they they’re greatest magic saved for their moments in the limelight that lie ahead? The world will sit in anticipation until May 21st when we all find out if that is indeed the case.
